The Allergen & Gluten Free Expo is a FREE comprehensive educational experience for those who suffer from allergies, asthma, gluten sensitivities and celiac disease. Thousands of people are expected to attend the free event, located on the lower level of Crossgates on Saturday, October 19 from 10:00AM – 3:00PM. The expo is open to the public and will feature 40 exhibitors, cooking demonstrations and an ability for attendees to interact with nurses and physicians of Albany Med and Saratoga Schenectady Gastroenterology. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample and purchase a range of food items and discover the newest products available to allergen families. The event is headlined by MVP Health Care.
Featured cooking demonstrations will take place as followed:
- 11:00AM – Chef Anand Jayapal of Swifty’s in Troy, and maker of Sydney’s gluten free sauces, will do a nut, dairy and gluten free demonstration on the Price Chopper / Market 32 Main Stage, located near Burlington.
- 12:30PM – Author and blogger Jodie Fitz will do an “Allergy-Friendly Family Meals” demonstration on the Price Chopper / Market 32 Main Stage, located near Burlington.
- 2:00PM – Baker Jessica Smith of A Different Blend Bakery will do a dairy and gluten free muffin demonstration on the Price Chopper / Market 32 Main Stage, located near Burlington.
The “Ask the Doctor” booth, featuring Dr. Arthur Ostrov of Saratoga Schenectady Gastroenterology, will be an additional highlight of the event. Dr. Ostrov will be available to address questions and concerns regarding celiac disease, gluten intolerance, and other gastrointestinal issues. Albany Med will also be on hand with a nurse practitioner specializing in Allergies and Immunology.
