Albany County Hosts Annual Child Safety
Seat Checkup Event April 19th at Crossgates
Guilderland, NY: Improperly installed car seats is still a major problem. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the number one killer of children between 1 and 13 years old is car crashes. Hundreds of car seats are improperly installed every year. There’s also been an increase in the number of counterfeit car seats entering the US. These seats do not meet the Federal crash standards and are dangerous to use.
The Albany County Traffic Safety Program has been hosting free child safety seat check events for over 20 years to help parents and caregivers protect their kids in motor vehicles. By hosting these events, we ensure that the children are properly protected by replacing expired, damaged, or recalled car seats or seats that are inappropriate for use by a child. We will also be checking for counterfeit seats to advise parents and caregivers about the dangers associated with them.
The Albany County Traffic Safety Program Child Safety Seat Checkup is free and will be held on Saturday, April 19 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. in the Crossgates JCPenney Overflow Lot in Guilderland.
